What is a Speech Pathologist?
Speech Pathologists study, diagnose and treat people who have difficulty speaking, listening, understanding language, reading and writing. They also support people in the areas of social skills, stuttering, swallowing, and using their voice.
Word Play Paediatric Speech Pathology specialises in articulation and phonology, language, literacy and social skills.

Do I need a GP or Paediatrician referral for my child to access speech pathology services?
No, you don't! You can refer you child yourself by completing our referral form. You may be able to access medicare rebates if your child has a chronic medical condition. You will need to see a GP to access these rebates.

Where are you located?
We are located on the premises of Better Living Osteo in Romsey, Victoria.
Word Play Paediatric Speech Pathology do not currently offer telehealth or home based
services. Community based services (school, kinder etc) may be discussed, and may be offered at the discretion of the speech pathologist. Travel fees for these services are applicable.

How long is the waitlist?
We have experienced a high demand for speech pathology services.
As a result, our waitlist is currently closed and we are not accepting new referrals. Updates about our waitlist reopening will be posted on our home page in 2026.

How long will my child need therapy?
Length of therapy varies significantly from child to child, so unfortunately, this question can't be answered with certainty. Some children will attend a block of therapy to address one or two speech goals, whereas other children might have longer-term goals that will require ongoing speech pathology input. Every child is unique and will set the pace of their own therapy. Some factors that may influence the length of therapy include the complexity of the communication difficulty, frequency of sessions, family led practice, number of goals set and the child's individual response to intervention.
